During April and June, students from Escola Secundária Quintado do Marquês in Portugal participated in the SoundScapes pilot test where they learned how to make real-time and a posteriori sonification with electronics, programming, and online sonification software.
During 7 sessions e students explored various sonification tools, such as theMicro:bit and the Two Tone web application to sonify data such as CO2 emissions and the light level in the classroom.
Sonification of CO2 emissions by source (1904-2022) , represented by different instruments – cement production by harp, coal by piano, oil by electric guitar, and gas by mandolin:
The pilot test was a great opportunity for SoundScapes staff to evaluate the effectiveness of their educational tools, gather feedback for future improvements, and observe the students’ engagement and learning outcomes.
Looking forward to starting the project implementation in September!
bonito!
